Keeping Occupied

It's been a good day for distracting entertainments (in between the much grimmer, incomprehensible news). NPR had both a Fresh Air interview about The Simpsons and one of the Talk of the Nation topics today was BCS Bowl system (it's not available for download quite yet as of this posting, if you missed it).

But, Miss Alli really took the cake with her scathing review of a self-help book for single women. I can't decide which of the book's absurd premises is the dumbest, that if a guy really likes you he will suddenly develop Dr. Christian Troy levels of debonair self-assurance and immediately proceed to woo (There are rumors the actor may be the next Bond, so that level of confidence, for those who don't watch Nip/Tuck). Then there's the idea that if a guy is a jerk it's because the gal's not the one for him. It's not that he's an asshole, it's that the woman isn't worthy enough for him to not be an asshole to her. Wow. That is some enlightened stuff right there.
